Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Earn a living as a colportuer?

Yes. How much you earn depends on several variables such as, your skill and experience level, the amount of time you put into it, and the kind of books you are utilizing, and your connection with God. CTA will give you training which has enabled hundreds of colporteurs to sell $200-$1,900 per day.

How does CTA work?

Because of Covid-19 We will only be working with the Online Component at this time.
This online aspect can be purchased by itself and utilized by any colporteur anywhere wishing to learn much of the basics of colporteuring. (Please note that the instruction is targeted towards colporteurs in North America and not all elements will apply equally depending on the canvasser’s location) A certificate of completion will be awarded once the online component is successfully completed. This certificate can stand alone as a credential indicating completion of the learning for any colporteur anywhere. It is also a prerequisite for entrance into the second part of CTA’s training which we will describe next.

What if I live far away for training?

Because of Covid-19 We will only be working with the Online Component at this time.
Please contact ask@www.colporteurtradeacademy.com to inquire with any further questions

Do you have payment plans?

Not at this time, but you can get the course in a subscription plan for lower costs.

Can I finish CTA if I have a full time job?

Because of Covid-19 We will only be working with the Online Component at this time.
CTA’s online component can easily work with your schedule. Those desiring to maintain a full time or part time job during the training will need to opt for individualized training rather than the group training. (Please refer to the question “How does CTA work?” for info on group vs individual training.) The individualized training is geared towards people who cannot make the group training for various reasons including other jobs. Having said that, you will have to look at your schedule and compare it to the field requirements for individual training to determine if it will work in your particular situation.

What are CTA's field requirements?

Because of Covid-19 We will only be working with the Online Component at this time.
Individualized field training requirements are as follows:
    A. Each student must complete 100 hours of field work.
    B. 30 hours of the 100 are REQUIRED to be done with a field trainer.
    C. UP TO 56 of the 100 can be done under the mentorship of a field trainer with just you and the trainer.
    D. Up TO 80 of the 100 can be done under the mentorship of a field trainer when canvassing with a fellow student that the field trainer also works with dividing his time between you and your partner. (This takes coordination.)
    E. 20 hours of the 100 must be solo work
    F. Colporteuring with a local group of canvassers can count towards field hours. Contact your local conference Publishing or Literature Ministries director for info on any group canvassing opportunities with or without the Literature Evangelist Guild.
Group field training requirements are as follows:
    A. Each student must attend the entire group training. Typical group training time frame is 10 weeks.

What do I get when I finish both the online and field training?

Because of Covid-19 We will only be working with the Online Component at this time. Please contact us with any further questions.
After you pass the online course and fulfill all field training requirements (whether group or individual), you will become a Certified Colporteur Evangelist (CCE). You will receive an email with the official CTA seal to use on business cards and CTA will mail you a hard copy diploma certifying your completion of all courses and training in the trade.

What do we sell at the doors?

CTA will focus on teaching you how to sell both soft cover and hard cover books.  The hardcover sets might vary from time to time but currently the sets will be:
1. A health set
2. An adult spiritual set
3. A Children’s spiritual set
4. A pre-school children’s set
5. A family Bible

What is the Colporteur Evangelist Guild?

The Colporteur Evangelist Guild (CEG) is a network of colporteurs who support each other in the field as well as meet for continuing education to further refine their vocational skills as a colportuer and minister for God. Contact your local conference Publishing or Literature Ministries Director to get information regarding the CEG chapter nearest you.  Upon completion of CTA’s online and field training you will have a diploma but you will have to contact your local conference Publishing Director, or Literature Ministries Director in conjunction with the local guild to look into territory assignment options. CTA does not assign territory to graduates. That is the role of the conference publishing or literature ministries director in conjunction with the local guild. Most publishing directors work closely with the local CEG and provide assigned territory, book discounts, and other benefits to CEG members. Most guilds have minimal annual dues to cover basic costs of activities. $200/year is typical but the benefits far outweigh the cost to join. We highly recommend that, upon graduation, you join your local guild so you can get territory, get good pricing on books, have camaraderie and continuing education.
